All about sports flooring, and why you need to get it right!

If you’re a sports fan, working in the commercial flooring industry, it’s very satisfying to install a sports floor. From schools, to community halls, gymnasiums, play areas and indoor sports facilities, Bass Floor Newcastle can help you create the perfect indoor court. Whether you’re after a specific kind, or a multipurpose lined floor, we’ve completed many projects involving sports flooring.

Sports floors aren’t your average floor choice. They are purpose-manufactured, heavy duty, flexible vinyl sheets created with safety in mind. Sports floors are designed to be slip resistant and shock absorbent, meaning athletes of all ages and expertise levels can enjoy their sport without fear of slipping or excessive impact/shock to their joints and muscles.

Common indoor court types such as netball, basketball, tennis, badminton, handball, football and volleyball are all among the popular choices, as well as multi-purpose, martial arts and gymnastics flooring. There really is a specialised flooring solution available for every sporting project.

We use four main manufacturer’s for our projects; GerflorPolyflor and Tarkett.

Like any flooring, sports flooring requires routine maintenance. Most manufacturers suggest daily cleaning, especially if there’s heavy foot traffic, for optimal appearance and longevity. They can be mopped, swept or vacuumed to remove dust and dirt. Cleansers are available to remove stain marks as required. Once the finish starts to dull, sports floors can be buffed and restored.  They are a great long term investment.
